Information and Policies

Welcome! We are a small scale farm growing beautiful blooms on 20 acres in Munith, Michigan. I have been hobby gardener for over 25 years, focusing primarily on native perennials, annuals and of course.. dahlias! I am passionate about growing and sharing these beautiful blooms, and I take pride in my practices to ensure to the best of my ability that I provide a quality product that will bring you as much joy as it does for me.

To help both the seller (myself) and the buyer (YOU!) have a seamless, wonderful experience in buying and growing tubers from my farm, I ask that you PLEASE READ the following policies:

Tuber Appearance: Dahlia tubers come in all shapes and sizes. Fat, skinny, long, short, bumpy, wrinkly, smooth, twisted, long necks, short necks, tiny bit squishy to hard as a rock. Sometimes the "Skin" on the tuber will peel off near the neck, sometimes the tuber will be chopped during harvesting or intentionally for storage. I will not sell tubers that have broken necks or exhibit signs of rot. What I will offer is a tuber that has a viable eye that will produce a beautiful bloom for you if planted and grown appropriately. If you are new to growing dahlias, I HIGHLY suggest reading up on the ins and outs of dahlia tubers and how to grow them from the plethora of resources available through the wonder of Google.

Lenticels: My primary source of irrigation in my fields is a drip line system. In seasons of extreme drought, I essentially run the drip lines 24/7.  As a result, plants grown close to drip lines sometimes have tubers with lenticels (bumps) on them. Due to the abundance of often inaccurate information posted on socials, many folks equate these bumps with "root knot nematode" infection. Therefore, to alleviate potential buyer concerns, and in an abundance of caution, I sent tubers, clumps with roots and soil samples from all four of my fields for root knot nematode testing at Michigan State University. I am happy to report that all samples tested negative for RK nematodes. Therefore, knowing that tubers with lenticels will produce just as healthy of a plant and tuber clump as a perfect, pretty smooth tuber, and that any tubers with lenticels were produced from healthy beautiful plants that grew normally all season, I will be selling these bumpy babies along with their smooth as silk counterparts in my sale, and providing a copy of the report with any orders filled with a tuber with lenticels. If the thought of a bumpy but perfectly normal tuber bothers you, please don't buy from my sale.

Disease:  Dahlia plants can exhibit characteristics of disease if under stress, dehydrated, malnourished, not spoken to nicely... while I do not have the means to test every single plant I grow for virus, throughout the growing season I meticulously tend to each and every plant, inspecting for obvious disease and culling when appropriate. Multiple individual eyes emerging on your tuber are a bonus, not a curse. I have had hundreds of tubers with 3+ individual eyes.. this is a good thing. However, IF you are concerned about seeing multiple eyes on the tubers you receive, please contact me FIRST before posting on every social media outlet that I sold you a tuber with gall.

Ordering: Like most small-scale growers, sadly I do not have an infinite amount of tubers to offer.  Some varieties produce massive beautiful clumps with oodles of viable tubers, some are stingy and just don't play nice when it comes to tuber production. That being said, there are some cultivars that will have limited quantities offered and will sell out quickly. I recommend creating an account on the website to speed up check out.

Shipping and Receiving: Tubers will be shipped from mid April through May via USPS, only throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. I will be photographing each and every tuber that I send out into the world to their forever home. Upon receipt, PLEASE open your package and inspect your tubers! You will have 48 hours to contact me with any issues (yes, I can see when your tubers are delivered), providing photographic/video evidence of said issue. I will assess the situation with the photos I have of your order, and provide a remedy if appropriate, which may include the tuber being returned to me at buyer expense. Your tubers will be packaged with love and care to ensure safest possible journey to you, however, I am NOT responsible for mishaps that occur during transit, packages not received due to neglecting to get your mail, porch pirates, the neighbors dog eating it, etc.

Mislabels: I am a one-woman operation. Every dahlia grown on this farm was planted, tended to, harvested, divided and stored by myself. While I would like to 100% guarantee that the variety you ordered is true to form, to err is human, and mistakes do happen. Be aware that early vs late season, different climates, growing conditions, soil health, phase of the moon, etc. will influence the hues of you blooms, and therefore your bloom might not look exactly like the photos on my website. If it is an obvious mislabel, please reach out to me to discuss and find a mutually agreeable solution.

Parting Thoughts: Growing flowers is my passion. Sharing the beauty with others is also my passion. Dahlia farming is not a get rich quick scheme, it is a labor of love that is also essentially a 365 day a year effort. The blood, sweat, tears and finances poured into growing healthy, abundant beauties can be stressful, and combined with having a full time "real" job and a family can make it down right overwhelming.  But my wish is that these amazing blooms will bring you the same joy that they bring to me. If you choose to purchase from me, I insist on respectful, amicable communication. I am committed to providing the best product I possibly can and treating my customers in the same manner I expect to be treated by any seller I purchase from. May your gardens be your "Happy Place" as they are for me!
